The blasting phase is nearing its end
The construction project of our new Signe building at Mannerheimintie 14 is progressing as planned. At the end of October, we will lay the first stone at the site and hold a cornerstone ceremony to celebrate this milestone.
Signe’s name day on 23 August
In honour of Signe’s name day and to brighten up the day of people in Helsinki, the canopy for pedestrians and cyclists will be decorated with flowers for the weekend of 23–28 August. On Friday morning, 23 August, passers-by will be handed refreshing rhubarb juice. The highly praised canopy is keeping pedestrians and cyclists safe at the front of the until Signe will be completed at the end of 2026.
Blasting nearing its end
The blasting phase, which started in May, is expected to be completed by the end of October. As autumn progresses, the noise and vibration generated by blasting will decrease, as it will no longer take place every day in September and October. We will announce the end of the blasting separately.
The foundation work has also started on the site, and the construction of the frame structures will start in September and last about a year. The foundations use green concrete, which has lower carbon dioxide emissions than normal concrete.
Cranes rarely seen in Finland coming to the site
Two tower cranes will be brought to the site in August–September. They will be in use until the frame has been completed to move, for example, formwork, rebar and concrete elements.
The tower crane masts are 54.4 metres high, and their boom length is 45 metres horizontally. The boom’s angle of inclination can be adjusted. Cranes of this type are rare in Finland but necessary due to the limited space available at the Signe site.
