The Signe office building project is starting

We are starting the construction project of the new Signe office building in your neighbouring property, Mannerheimintie 14, this week. The work begins with the interior demolition of the current building. 

The interior demolition works will last for the rest of the year, and the exterior demolition works will begin to be visible in the cityscape at the beginning of 2024. The current property, which is at the end of its life cycle, will be demolished by next summer. We will start the actual construction work at the end of next summer, and the Signe office building will be completed by the end of 2026. 

We will try to keep disruption to the neighbours as minimal as possible. The demolition and construction phases of the project will inevitably generate noise and bring about changes in routes that affect your everyday life to some extent. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience. 

We will cut down the noise by scheduling the noisiest work phases to take place when nearby properties are in the least possible use, for example. During the demolition phase, we will use alternative work methods that reduce noise nuisance, such as a scraping demolition machine. 

On Mannerheimintie, we avoid cutting off pedestrian and bicycle connections as far as possible and will save the trees along the street. Unfortunately, this means reductions in the use of car lanes. 

 Sustainability and energy efficiency play a central role in the design and construction of the new building. Signe’s life cycle is as low-carbon as possible, and the materials recovered when the building is demolished are recycled or reused, to create as little waste as possible. We are aiming for Platinum-level LEED certification, A-level energy classification, and gold-level WELL certification for Signe. 

 At this point, Signe is 50% leased with PwC as its anchor tenant. Business premises located in the centre of the city bring a large group of customers with purchasing power to the city centre services, benefiting all companies in the area.
