The blasting phase soon over, foundation stone to be laid

The construction project of our new Signe building at Mannerheimintie 14 is progressing as planned. Blasting will be completed by the end of October, so the noise and vibrations, which have already decreased since early autumn, will soon stop completely.

Foundation work and the construction of the frame structures, which will take approximately one year, are ongoing. The foundations use green concrete, which has lower carbon dioxide emissions than normal concrete.

The laying of the foundation stone of the new building will be celebrated at the end of October.

Signe recognised in the Street Construction Site of the Year 2024 competition

The competition jury was particularly impressed by the innovativeness of the waiting system we created for heavy traffic, the so-called waiting pocket. The logistics of our construction site operate safely when pedestrian and bicycle traffic is halted during deliveries.

In addition to safety, the jury paid special attention to how much we have invested in the appearance and coziness of the canopy built for pedestrians and cyclists. The jury summarised their views as follows: “the materials are beautiful, aphorisms make it cosier – the panel-like structure is gorgeous”.

The competition organised by the City of Helsinki aims to reduce the inconvenience caused by construction sites to city residents. The assessment emphasises the perspectives of pedestrians and cyclists.
